🍑 Peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches 🍑

Hey there, Reader —
I’ve got that late summer feeling – how ’bout you? Can I even put my finger on what it is?
Camp is over for Kobe, but school hasn’t started yet. It’s the in-between of the in-between. Summer has always felt like a pattern interruptor to me, when our usual routines take a backseat and the days stretch differently. And yet, in this mid-August moment, it’s the everyday that feels especially sacred – a day by the lake, simple pleasures, eating something perfectly in season.
My new motto is: Five! Peaches! Daily!
I’ve always had this dream that maybe one year I could take the whole month of August off. So far, not entirely possible. I do still love the idea of resting deeply before September sets in.
Because, in all these languid days, I can feel fall coming.
We’re moving through these final days of Leo and toward Virgo, from the expansiveness and fire of summer into the reset and reassembly of September. I’m trying not to rush there! I want to savour every drop of this beautiful, fleeting season while also beginning to notice what the next one is asking of me.
Practice, for me, is an act of remembering. In this case, to pay attention to these cycles.
My teacher Abbie loves to say: “you don’t wear a swimsuit in a snowstorm.” There is wisdom in meeting the season we’re actually in – letting summer be summer, allowing fall to gather us inward, letting winter be quieter.
And sometimes, of course, we can choose to interrupt the pattern.
The equinox is coming, and we can ease into that seasonal change slowly. Summer may be fiery, but our movement into fall doesn’t need to be frantic. Fall can arrive with discernment, simplicity and ease.
And while winter naturally invites us toward rest and inwardness, sometimes a soul dose of sunshine is exactly the medicine we want in the middle of it.
Which brings me to two very different retreats I’m looking forward to – one designed to meet the arrival of fall, and one offering a complete change of scenery when winter is well underway.
Just after the fall equinox, Melanie Richards and I are heading to Conserve in the country for Your Royal Nature. Raja means “king” or “royal” in Sanskrit, and Raja Yoga is known as the “royal path” – a path centred on the mind, with meditation at its heart. Here, “royal” points us toward inner authority: the steadiness to listen beneath the noise and recognize what we know to be true.
It feels especially potent at the beginning of fall, a season I think of in terms of discernment – noticing what still belongs, what is essential, and what we are ready to let go of as the year begins to turn inward.
Melanie and I will bring our own contemporary exploration to this ancient path through meditation, Kundalini Yoga, movement, yin, restorative practice, sound and creative work – surrounded by forest, beautiful farm-to-table vegetarian food and all the fall magic of the country 🍁
This is your essential equinox reset weekend! Who’s in?
Nosara is my happy place – somewhere I’ve returned to year after year, where my kids have grown up vacationing over the years, and which has become a true home away from home.
This January, Paul Charbonneau and I are inviting you there for seven days and nights nights devoted to pura vida – moving, breathing, resting and playing in ways that help you feel vital, joyful and free in your body.
Paul and I bring very different but complementary approaches to movement, so the week will move between strength, Pilates, mobility and beach workouts, and yoga, breathwork, some restoration and stretching as we need it.
And because we’re in Nosara, the retreat leaves plenty of room for the beach and ocean, surfing if you wanna try, the most breathtaking sunsets, long meals with new friends, and simply enjoying one of the most beautiful places on earth.
If you’re looking for a new year reset, that’s really that soul dose of sunshine – I can’t imagine a better way to start 2027.
A few other things on the horizon:
The Imprint returns September 14 to 18, five days of practice together leading us toward the fall equinox, from the ease of your mat and on Zoom. More on that very soon!
And there are new practices waiting for you in my Membership, plus our Pisces Full Moon (and Lunar Eclipse) gathering coming liveAugust 27.
But first: summer.
Eat the peach. Or peaches. Go to the lake, or just to the canal. Stay outside a little longer. Let August still be August.
And when you’re ready to look toward what comes next, I hope one of these spaces gives you something beautiful to dream toward.
PS: Wondering where the Kundalini retreat is? How about a deep dive in Mexico, February 18 to 23, 2027? Write me back and tell me if that speaks to you – and we can make it happen.

Hi, Reader — Happy Virgo season! It’s my Sun sign, so I love this time of year!! Virgo is methodical and pragmatic, and I already feel its influence over me. I’ve been getting the details in order for my fall travel, and looking ahead to 2027, organizing what’s to come and settling back into studio life. Maybe you saw my retreats email! Virgo in action. This weekend has been so fun – did you come say hi at the Imagine Monkland festival in NDG? What true joy to connect with people and see so...
Hi, Reader — August is cottage time for me! My family’s annual bubble. A slower time by the lake, with bonfires, Ry, Kobe and Liam, and neighbours – and the particular rhythm that only late summer drums. No wonder it’s an entire separate season in Traditional Chinese Medicine! (I’m also headed to New York for a very quick weekend trip, which I’m really looking forward to!) For me, though, August has always been a month for leaning into family before September begins and everything goes back...
Hi, Reader — It feels good to be home in July! Back in regular rhythms, practices and teachings. Back in the studio and the everyday life that holds me. As you may know if you’ve been around these parts a while, I’ve been paying closer attention to my summer energy in recent years, and really taking care not to burn myself out. July can carry so much action and passion, and I can feel how much my body has been asking for rest. Especially after travel! So I’ve been returning to The Imprint...
