Hi, Reader —
You’ve heard me mention that 2026 is a Year of 10. Here’s what I mean by that, and why I find it useful – and kind of fun! – to examine the year this way, as we stand at its doorway, and as my annual “Year of” workshop happens tomorrow evening!
This concept comes from numerology, a symbolic way of working with time that treats years as part of a repeating cycle or spiral, rather than a straight line. (Need more scroll holeshere? Kabbalah, kundalini, and astrology all have numerological paths) To find the number of a year, we simply add the digits together:
2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10.
Each number carries a particular tone, and a 10 marks the completion of a full cycle and the beginning of the next one.
You might remember, if you joined last year, that the 9 was described as a kind of ending – and that’s true. A 9 year often works things through internally: reflection, release, integration, tying up emotional loose ends. What’s interesting is that the 10 year is where that ending actually lands. It’s the point where what’s been processed internally starts to show up in lived, practical ways – in how you choose, act, and move forward.
This 10 year keeps it real. Rather than pulling us into abstraction or endless self-work, it brings us right back to the life in front of us: our choices, our habits, our relationships, the way we handle ordinary days. Small actions tend to matter more than big intentions, and how we show up consistently carries more weight than grand plans.
Here are a few core qualities of this 10 year ahead:
A 10 year brings completion into the present. You may feel less interested in revisiting or explaining what’s already finished. A role you’ve been playing, a dynamic you’ve outgrown, or a chapter that quietly ended some time ago may no longer feel like something to analyze – it’s simply done. The invitation is to let that completion shape how you make decisions now, rather than dragging the past forward with you.
A 10 year asks for embodiment over analysis. This isn’t a year for endless self-questioning. It favours living what you already know. You might notice decisions coming from a quieter, more grounded place – a clear yes or no in the body – rather than long internal debates. Clarity tends to arrive once you’re in motion, not while you’re still thinking about it.
A 10 year amplifies what you build. Small, practical actions carry more weight than usual. Replacing something you’ve been tolerating, reorganizing your calendar, establishing a simple habit, or setting a clearer boundary can create a surprising sense of momentum. What you put in place now has a way of shaping the year ahead in very tangible ways.
In my annual “Year of” practice on Monday, January 5 at 18h30 EDT, we’ll spend time with these themes in practical ways.
I offer this workshop every year because I genuinely love annual planning – and because I’m a bit of a numerology nerd!! It’s a ritual I return to again and again: a chance to zoom out, take in the bigger picture of the year ahead, and then bring it back down into something lived and workable.
The session begins with some breathwork, then moves into our numerological context for the year ahead. From there, we shift into real reflection, deep work and action planning: * looking back on the year you’re closing * pausing to integrate what matters * and projecting ahead into 2026 with actions
We work with a simple arc – dream it, plan it, do it – bridging intention into practical, doable steps.
You can join live or work with the replay whenever you’re ready. I recommend setting aside a few uninterrupted hours for this one – it’s spacious, meaningful, and designed to help you meet the year ahead with clarity.
If this moment feels like the right time to stand back, see where you actually are, and choose what you want to carry forward, this practice creates the space, and guides you to do exactly that.
Join me Monday, and let’s dream this year into being a great one!
What will this be your “Year of”?
Enjoy these first calendar days…
