Hi, Reader —
Early May, and the city is literally in bloom! I love it, and not just because it’s also my name!! 🌸🌸 I love seeing the cherry blossom trees in NDG – they are so iconic for this time of year. And Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend, too.
I have to admit, I’m a bit funny about Mother’s Day. I LOVE all the holidays. Going wild with decorations is my jam, the fun and whimsy of it all just lights me up. And with Mother’s Day, there is also something about the Hallmark aspect that never feels like the whole story…
For me, May is earthy. Yes, it is about mothers – and it is also about Mother Earth, whose gifts and creation we can see all around us right now.
And of course, it sounds cliché, but my kids – motherhood – that is my greatest gift and joy. They teach me every day, I love learning from them – and I don’t need them to perform for me on May 10.
What I want most on Mother’s Day is space to do what I really want. My tradition is to invite my girlfriends over and take time to connect. We have tea, we gab, we laugh – about motherhood, yes, and about life. That is truly the best gift for me.
Mothering is such a deep, deep part of all of our souls: nurturing, protection, creation, life.
And we all know that many mothers so often put their own needs last. Some of us also have complicated relationships with our mothers. It is not always simple. It is not always positive.
My dear friend Kimiko Tao Fujimoto and I have created a space to tend to your inner mother – whether mother is a role you actively play in life, or a piece of yourself that does not receive love every day.
Magnolia Mama – at Morpho Bleu this Friday evening May 8 at 19h – is a gentle space to tend to those mothering parts inside your soul.
Through Kundalini yoga, Katonah restorative practices, sound healing, and flower essence ritual, we will soften the body and open the heart, allowing nature’s intelligence to move through us once again.
This ritual honours the mothers who raised us, if that is important for you. It also honours the inner mother we are continuously becoming – the one who learns to care for the soul, set loving boundaries, and restore balance where we have given too much and received too little.
For ourselves. For our loved ones and chosen families. For the planet.
If you’re in Montreal, bring your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your friends – or come alone and be held in a circle.
Sometimes the most powerful act of mothering is learning how to receive.

And, if you are like me and Kimiko, and you need more time and space to restore, reset, and come back to yourself, we would also love to welcome you next month for a full countryside escape to the Townships, at Conserve in Lac Brome.
→ Join our HEART FIRE RETREAT from June 5–7
Accommodations in meadows of flowers, ponds, and forests. Food from the land. Yoga and ceremony with bonfires. Ride-shares included. A weekend away under the big open sky is the perfect gift for yourself – or a beautiful getaway with friends or partners.
Spots are filling fast, so grab one of the remaining places and start your summer in intentional rest and relaxation.
Whatever your plans for this May and June, I hope these months are filled with love, rest, and nurturing of your soul.
Big, big love,
Sara
PS: There are also still a few places in my Kundalini immersion later this month. Join me for A Kundalini Experience, May 22 to 24. Did you hear my interview on The Chrysalis Pod? I talk all about what to expect, if you want to know more.
